One of the most attractive features of living at Luther Court is the Timnick Garden., a restful and beautiful place where residents may stroll or sit in peace. Financial support is always needed to maintain the garden and enable a program of continuing improvement.
The Timnick Garden was designed by Sue Gunnerson. The Horticultural Centre of the Pacific has entered into an agreement with Luther Court Society and is co-ordinating the Project. Ongoing funding is needed to complete the garden and maintain it. The Garden was named in honour of Mrs. Ottilie Timnick. Mrs. Timnick lived at Luther Court for over 22 years.
She was very special. She loved to garden and to sing. She was given a small plot of land where she planted rose bushes and flowers in front and her herbs and vegetables in the back. Her neighbours brought plants for her to bring back to life. The window ledges on the second floor were full of these plants until they were flourishing again. Mrs. Timnick shared her family with us. Over the years, we met Ruth, Henry and Emma, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her birthday was always a special time when the family gathered and everyone, including her Luther Court family, joined in the celebration. The Timnick family have been a major donor to our garden project. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the garden is now a reality. |
